Species characterized by an endless curiosity in trekking the star 'where no one has gone before.' Left the ground for the first time in 1903 onboard an aircraft for a 100 meter long flight (Wright brothers). Then began a race to their final frontier, the stars. First automated spaceship in 1957 (Spoutnik 1) that resulted in a close survey by Vulcans and the incident of Carbon Creek. First man in space in 1961 (Yuri Gagarin). First man on another celest body in 1969 (Apollo 11, Neil Armstrong, on the only Earth Moon). First automated ship soft-landed on Mars in 1979 (Vicking 1). Discovery of the warp drive and first warp flight in April 2061, resulting in the First Contact with an extraterrestrial intelligent species : the Vulcans. First Vulcan Ambassador on Earth soon after. First human spaceship living the solar system circa 2080. First human permanent colony on Mars in 2103. Creation of Starfleet circa 2130. See the history of the 22nd century for further details. Homeworld : Earth, sector sol-001, frontier of the alpha and beta quadrants. Political system : democratic unified planetary union (circa 2100). Future history : War against the Romulan Star Empire in 2156, resulting in the establishment of the neutral zone and the quasi-isolation of the Romulans for more than 2 centuries. Founded the Federation of United Planets, so-called the Federation, along with Vulcans, Andorians and Tellarites. In conflict for a century with the Klingon Empire while the Federation grew to become the biggest union of species of the quadrant. Major conflict during the 23rd century : The Dominion war, 2373-2375, won by the alliance of the Federation, Klingon Empire and Romulian Star Empire, lately rejoined by the Cardassian. In 2377, Borgs threat defeated by a single starship, the Voyager, lost for 7 years in the Delta Quadrant, while returning home. San Francisco, Earth, is the location of Starfleet headquarters, the defensive arm of the Federation, as well as its Academy. Paris, France, is the location of the office of the Federation's President. Encounters of season 1 :- Klingon :
Species of warriors characterized by a high honor, agressivity and bloody conflicts. Political system : Empire (The Klingon Empire) controlled by Houses of family (for ex. House of Duras family). The empire was founded around 700 A.D. by Kahless the unforgettable who first united the Klingon people by killing the tyrant Molor. The history of the Empire is marked by a violent trend. In 2069, establishment of the Klingon High Council and its Chancellor for controlling the Empire (VS Emperor before that). First contact with humans in 2151, disastrous. By mid 22nd century, Warp 4 ships (so called 'Birds of Prey'), disruptors and traditional arm weapons. Homeworld : Qo'Nos (pronounce Kronos). Langage very glutural, based on 24 different dialects turing around a common adaptative strucuture. Government becoming corrupted in early 22nd century. Future history : A century of conflicts between the Klingon Empire and the Federation, until 2267 (The Organian Peace Treaty). Brief alliance with the Romulian Star Empire in 2268 that resulted in sharing military technology and spacecraft designs. By this time, Klingon war ships are equipped with cloaking device. New talks for negotiations with the Federation opened in 2289 resulting in small steps. Relations established with the Federation in 2293 by Chancellor Gorkon and his successor Azetbur (his daughter) at the Khitomer conference, after the sudden destruction of Praxis moon that threatened the Qo'Nos homeworld's life support. First Klingon Ambassador to the Federation that year. First Klingon at the Academy in 2357 : Worf, son of Mogh, grand son of the first Klingon ambassador to the Federation. Civil war in 2367 when the Chancellor K'mpec died of poison and was replaced by new chancellor Gowron opposite the Duras family. Same time, murder of the Ambassador to the Federation K'Ehleyr (human mother-Klingon father), whose relation with Worf had resulted in the birth of a son, Alexander. In 2369, Chancellor Gowron becomes the new Klingon Emperor after more than 3 centuries without emperor. In 2372, invasion of Cardassia Prime that resulted in the breaking od political relations with the Federation and the battle of Ajilon Prime, before cease fire. Treaty reinstated in 2373 and alliance between Klingon (lead by General Martok) and Federation against the Dominion invasion force. Death of Gowron (after become insane) in 2375, new Emperor Martok and new Ambassador to the Federation Worf of the House of Martok. In 2377, first Klingon colony at the frontier of the Delta Quadrant (25 000 LY from the Empire) established by a group travelling in a multigenerational ship that left the Empire in mid 23rd century. - Suliban :
Humanoid species with yellow skin. They left their homeworld over a thousand years ago and became nomadic, settling peacefully across the quadrant with races like the Tandarans and the Tiburon. In 2144, the faction known as the 'Cabal' began attacking non-aligned Suliban settlements on these worlds, causing the Suliban to be at first ostracized and eventually imprisoned. Most of the Suliban are not members of the Cabal, but endure mistreatements by other's fear of reprisal of the Cabal. The Cabal, led by Silik, is involved in the Temporal Cold War and takes orders from a figure from the future, maybe the 31th century. They are opposed to Temporal Agent Daniels (mostly human) and his troups. First contact with humans in 2151. No further known details after 22nd century. - Vulcan :
humanoid species of great strength and acute hearing, due to high gravitational field and thin air on their planet. Their heart is where human liver is, and their eyes' retina is protected by a secondary inner eyelid. When injured, Vulcans concentrate their strength and antibodies onto the injured organs in a kind of meditation. Their blood chemistry is based on copper, resulting in the green-grey color of their skin (human's one is Iron). Vulcans have telepathic abilities. People once passionate and violent whose civilisation was torn by terrible wars. Around 2000 years ago, a philosopher called Surak led Vulcans to reject their emotions to embrace pure logic. This is considered as the renaissance of the Vulcan civilisation, called the 'Time of Awakening.' At this time, a group of rebel did not accept Surak's teaching and left to found the Romulan Star Empire. Vulcans and Romulan were in conflict for 1 century in an indetermined time some times before 2072. Vulcans have been the first contact of Humans in 2063, but have already been in contact with Humans in 1957 after one of their ships crashed in North America. Their origin has been kept a secret and no interference with normal development of Earth has been recorded. Co-foundeurs of the Federation in 2161. Prehistoric evidences suggest that the Vulcan race may have originated with colonists from Sargon's planet some 500000 years ago. Homeworld : Vulcan, arid and hot planet of the stellar system Eta Eridani. Social : At the age of 7, children are chosen a mate by their parents, and are telepathically linked. When adults, they are compelled to join together for the marriage rituals (the 'Koon-ut-kal-if-fee'). Vulcans endure circa every 7 years the Pon Farr, a time of complete emotionnal and violence abandon, when they mate. - Denobulan :
humanoid species characterized by a great happiness of living. Warp flight capable species, ally of the Vulcans. Brutal and long wars with the Antarans, the 2 peoples still hate each other and are even learned when young to do so with terrible stories. They have a very long tongue and tend to easily and largely express their emotions on their face. Social : polygam both ways, very free society. Their most famous citizen is Dr Phlox (see pict), chief medical onboard the Enterprise, and member of the Vulcan interspecies medical exchange programme, in post in San Francisco in 2150-2151. - Draylaxian

- Axanar : androgynous species living over 400 years and breathing a nitrogen-methane mixing. Species capable of warp travel. Their zymoth gland releases triglobuline into the blood. This compound is used by other species for medicines, vaccines, aphrodisiacs... and is similar to human lymphatic fluid. Ep. 1.03 Fight or flight.
- Xyrillian : humanoid species. They only utilize the genetic material of the mother. The males simply serve as hosts, and the blastocyst of their baby develops between intercostals. They possess holo-technology, but we don't know if they can reproduce lifeforms. First contact with Humans and Vulcans in 2151. Same year, brought the holo-technology to the Klingon Empire. No further known contact with humans. Ep. 1.04 Unexpected.

- Akaali : pre-warp civilisation, at the stage of 19th Earth century development. They have beautiful clippers travelling their oceans.

- Nausicaan : Humanoid species. They have a reputation of being quite violent, and are known for robberies. Warp flight capable. First contact with Humans in 2151.

Encounters of season 3 :- Xindis : 5 different species, warp capable. Reptilian, humanoid/primate, Insectoid, Sloth, Aquatic.
- Osaarian (Anomaly): warp capable merchant pacific species. 2 ships were lost in the Delphic expanse while looking for new commercial roads. One were destroyed while trying to escape. The other has become a prey hunter in order to survive. The crew has become violent and uses piracy.
